Layer de la Haye Parish Gazette is the parish magazine for Layer de la Haye. It carries news not only about the Church in Layer but also about the village and the activities of several of its organisations. It regularly carries attractive local illustrations drawn by a member of the congregation.
Published once a month, the price during 2008 is 60p a copy and single copies are available in Church. If you subscribe on a regular basis you can be guaranteed a copy and we can budget better. To encourage this there is a discount if you pay an annual subscription by the end of January. In 2008 this discounted subscription is £6 (equivalent to 50p a copy), plus £3-60 if posted.
The Gazette is now edited by Mark and Jo Jones who welcome contributions. It lessens the workload if articles, notices or information for inclusion are submitted in electronic form. This can be as plain text (*.txt), Microsoft Word (*.doc), or Rich Text Format (*.rtf) email attachments, or just typed/pasted into an email, addressed to layermag@hotmail.com Material can also be submitted in typescript, manuscript, or on 3.5" floppy or CD, by post or hand to Rockrose, Abberton Road, Layer de la Haye. Queries or very brief items can be telephoned to (01206) 734258. Copy should be submitted no later than the 12th of the month prior to month of publication.
The Gazette carries advertisements for local businesses whose support is appreciated. Advertising enquiries and payments are still handled by Doreen Goodchild.
Parish News serves the parishes of Birch, Layer Breton and Layer Marney. This monthly newsletter is edited by Geoff Russell Grant and delivered free of charge to every household in the area it covers. Copies can be posted to you if you live outside the normal delivery area for a small contribution of £3 to £4 to cover a year's supply of stamps and envelopes.
The newsletter contains information about a wide variety of activities and items of general interest in the villages. If you have an article or news item to contribute please email Geoff or telephone him on 01206-330235. The deadline for submitting items for publication is the 7th day of the month immediately preceding the month of issue - e.g. 7th January for publication in the February issue.

Although no charge is made for Parish News, it does of course cost money to produce. Contributions towards the cost of paper and printing will be much appreciated and keep alive this useful village channel of communication.
